Last night I ate at Teddy's Roti Shop for the second time. If you are looking for great Caribbean food and the best roti in DC go check it out.  Watch out, the homemade beet and carrot juice is um.. strong.

Open Season: Fuzzy Coitus

Over the weekend I witnessed this hot interracial squirrel bottom knocking* take place outside my kitchen window while I ate my breakfast. Not only were these squirrels unashamed of their fuzzy coitus, they were flaunting it over my breakfast (not directly) no less! As startling as this interruption was I was overcome with a sense of humility, for these furry exhibitionists were not only challenging my traditional views on mixed race love amongst woodland creatures, they were bringing their statement right to my breakfast table (figuratively). I could no longer turn the other cheek while eating my yogurt and blueberries. I had to take a long hard look inward and face my rodential bigotry right then and there, before taking another bite! I realized my friends that I was on the wrong side of history and the fact that these two furry fornicators had found each other was all the justification they needed. 

Then once I got down off the kitchen table and collected myself, affirmed in the fact that barriers had been broken, and old ideas revisited they blew my mind again, and switched places. No lie.

It's a new day people. Change has come indeed.

* scrumping, boot knockin', horizontal polka, the no-pants dance, the bone yard, poking, pound town, boinking, bumpin' uglies, a bit of the ole in n' out, hittin' skins, the hot beef injection, shagging, givin' the ole how's yer father, tappin' dat ass, taking the skin boat to tuna town, scuttling the ship...

Our Hero Crashes

Yes that's right. Our leader, the one we all look up to, the one who has inspires us, had a pretty bad crash over the weekend. There is no word on how bad the damage is but there are rumors of broken bones. We can only speculate at this point how this will affect the rest of his season. We here at CycleJerk are praying for Matt Lauer's speedy recovery...

There seems to be another cycling crash in the news but it's of little significance compared to Mr. Lauer's terrifying run in with a crazed quadruped.

The Craigslist Shuffle: Ultegra Shifters And A Girvin Sighting

A few weeks ago I told you about my latest addition and things are moving right along. I just rolled down to Georgetown and picked up a set of Ultegra STI 9 speed shifters through a Craigslist ad. I just need the appropriate bar tape and they will be good to go. Bar end shifters, your days are numbered. You know every step closer to my Ultimate Cross Check goal makes me feel a little more like Mr. Burns... hmm?

Crank Brothers Candy Rebiuld, A Rambouillet And Safetyness

I am a destroyer of bikes and bike parts. I'm the cthulhu of all things that make bikes go. That's where the irony lies, for I have a deep deep man-gear love for every little piece of my bikes. Most of the destruction comes from my belief that if you ignore the problem it will just go away. This is never the case but I continue to hold to it. I have been getting a squeak in one of my Crank Brothers Candy pedals for a few months and ignoring it was not working. So I ordered a rebuild kit from these guys and let it sit on the shelf for a few more weeks just to make sure the problem wasn't going away. Finally the squeak had reached a volume than couldn't be ignored and last night I got to work. 

Much like Chris King, Crank Brothers have very cool DIY videos on their website.

The first thing I noticed was that the sealed bearings seals had disintegrated and the bearing body had rusted to the inside of the pedal.  After some WD-40 and elbow grease the rusted bearing body gave way and the rest of the rebuild went swimmingly. 

Sealed bearings should never see the light of day, very sad.

The rust damage to the spindle body was pretty bad. I don't think this pedal will ever run smoothly again. It should however work slightly less than smoothly for a very long time. This is an easy fix that I recommend to anyone for do at first sign or sound of trouble.

Next up,  I saw this Rivendell Rambouillet in Silver Spring yesterday. I was noticing the Carradice saddle bag and thought it might look nice under my B-17. It may be too big though.

Finally, I got another batch of stickers from the Safety is Sexy bunch.
