Onward and upward. I have to decide what to replace it with. To replace the Giant, a new bike would have to excel at touring, commuting, farmer's marketing as well as the occasional off road beat down. I am leaning toward an all purpose cyclocross bike like a Surly Cross Check. However something like the Long Haul Trucker is peaking my interest as well. A bit more burly and the longer chainstays give it a longer comfort range. It doesn't have to be a Surly, I am just using them as examples. Tonight I am stopping by Silver Cycles in Silver Spring to check out a Soma Double Cross and will post a report.
Please let me know if you have an opinion of suggestions for me. I am taking this bike purchase seriously as the opportunity only comes along every 5 years or so.

UPDATE: HERE
Bikeman has the Voodoo Wazoo Once cross frameset on for about $500. Comes with a carbon fiber fork.
ReplyDeleteGot one on the way to me with the idea that I'll actually give cross racing a go next season. Stay tuned.
Oh, and it has sliding dropouts, so it can go fixed, SS, or geared. Versatile!
ReplyDeleteOoh Very nice. This decision grows more difficult every day.
ReplyDeleteI've been riding the LHT for about a year, and I love it. It's easy on the body, relaxed, and heel clearance has never been an issue.
ReplyDeleteOh, but the Wazoo lacks rack mounts, etc., so I assume it's out.
ReplyDeleteDamn, is that Girven fork in the Giant pic still sucking air and pumping blood, or have you retired it?
Still kicking ass! It's first ride was on the slick rocks trail in Moab in 97'.
ReplyDeleteIt has taken a beating but never failed. It's like a brother to me. he he It's sitting in my office right now waiting for the ride home.
If you ever see one for sale buy it!
